12/11/2010-UPDATE-Moving Stuff From WWJ My Space Blog to Here

-OK, just about ready to start moving stuff from the WWJ My Space blog to here. A few things…

-I’m going to keep the dates as they were posted (I think I can do that here). So if you’re wondering why I’m talking about just joining Word Press and have a number of past entries-that’s why.

-There will be some stuff that I WON’T be bringing over-like quizzes and stuff. My early blog posts on My Space were basically me answering quizzes and stuff and posting them on the blog. I don’t think anyone-myself included-cares what “power color I am” or “what god/goddess I am.” I did a number of surveys too back then. What I think I might do in regards to this is put the best replies in 1 long survey and post that. Most of the time, when doing those surveys, I was just posting goofy stuff so maybe someone will get a few chuckles out of it 🙂

-Videos will not be date posted. I can always post them at anytime here-and it’ll be much easier to reference than on My Space.

-That basically leaves posts on hired gun gigs, movies, questions, thoughts, personal stuff and Band Primer articles. What-no CAROLINE BLUE stuff? I might-but I would think that would be more appropriate on a CAROLINE BLUE site than here. We’ll see….at least the interviews…..

-Wish me the best on this! 🙂

12/5/2010-UPDATE-I’m Finally on WordPress!

-Well, I finally made the jump to Word Press! Obviously, this will be a work in progress as I figure out how to do things here & stuff. I already have a blog on the WWJ My Space Page but who knows how long My Space will be around right? In addition, it seems like not only have a lot of people abandoned My Space, but they won’t even go over there-hence one of the reasons I’m doing this here.

-A 2nd reason is that I believe I will eventually turn this into more than just a blog. Back in 2004 I put up a site for myself-separate from my band CAROLINE BLUE. It has been basically sitting in limbo since 2006-not because I have nothing to put up there, but the time to do so wasn’t something I didn’t have-and still don’t. I barely have time to get the main CB site updated-and this is with an old/outdated WYSIWYG website builder to boot. So I’m thinking of turning this into not just a blog but a full site for myself. At least I don’t have to pay for hosting anymore right? In addition, if I do things right here, I will probably do the same thing w/ the CAROLINE BLUE site-which will have a much larger amount of stuff to transfer. A LOT more. Course, I might also go the wordpress.org route, but 1 thing at a time right?

-So let’s see what I can do here….

11/14/2010-BAND PRIMER-“Did Someone Say…My Space?”

BAND PRIMER

NOVEMBER 2010

DID SOMEONE SAY…MY SPACE?

-When you’re in a band, you need to have a online presence. A place where you can define who you are & what your music is all about. A place where people can listen to your music and make comments about it. A place where you can put up pics & list your show dates and have a blog where you can discuss all things that are your band. A place where you can “add friends” and “grow” your fan base. Where is this place you ask? Well, it SHOULD be your own website but for many bands, it was-and still is-having a page on My Space.

-My Space you say? Remember them? It’s kinda funny, but when I mention to people about My Space, I mostly get a look that reads “who the hell goes there anymore?” A few years ago, My Space was sitting high up on top of the social network ladder. It seemed like everyone was on it. How things have changed. It seems that on a daily basis people are abandoning My Space for Facebook and/or Twitter-not to mention other sites. There are still reasons for a band to have a My Space page though-as well as some reasons not to.

-Some of the reasons why it’s still good for a band to have a My Space page are the following. My Space is now known as a place to find bands & their music. If you Google a band, chance are it’s My Space page will be at and/or near the top of the search. My Space also has strong networking with major labels-which may or may not be to your liking depending on how your band is set up. And while many people have abandoned it, there are still millions of people on there-especially overseas. I did a promo campaign recently where I targeted people in Japan for a little while and noticed an increase in my royalty statements from ASCAP. Not a huge increase mind you-very little actually-but it was still an increase. In addition, bands & bars still use it to set up shows. Many agents, promoters, bars & A&R people still use a band’s My Space page friend count as a start to indicate how a band would draw. Of course, it’s still free to create a My Space page and if you need a cheap/fast way to get your band on the web, a My Space page will do it. It seems like every band on the planet has a page on My Space. You can still put up pics (remember years ago when you could only put up to 12 pics on your page-till the movie 300 came out?), list your show dates, send show invites and start a blog on your My Space page.

-Sounds good huh? So why are people-and bands-abandoning it? My thoughts on this-and more-in next month’s article. Keep rockin!

11/13/2010-ACTING-More Filming on “Fallen Angels”

-This day started early-at 10 AM. Well, it was suppose to. Almost everyone was late-including me. We unfortunately had a few no shows-including one who was in all the scenes I was suppose to shoot as “Carter” so “Carter” didn’t get filmed today. However, I did get cast in some bit parts-the 1st was as one of the guards. Got a line to say too. Hope it can be heard thru the gas mask. Then I was asked to play the role of one of the rebels-a few other cast members did so as well. Jason had the idea to have my hair braided so Marisa (Shade) did that. She was also one of the rebels. I had the option of wearing camouflage makeup but it was decided that even w/ that on, people would recognize me so….

-My 3rd role was more on the crew side-I held the boom mic while the other scenes were being held-thus earning another nickname “Boom Boy” 😉 I had a good time though-time just seem to fly by for the most part. It was cool to reconnect w/ the cast, meet some new people, and share some laughs w/ them all. Not sure if I’m going to be there next week-guess we’ll all see what happens soon enough….

11/7/2010-ACTING-Second day Filming on “Fallen Angels”

-Here I am w/ another recap of a day of filming on the “Fallen Angels” set. I got there a touch late (wow-big surprise for people who know me right? 🙂 ) but it turns out makeup for the others wasn’t done yet & Jason was going to get Lunch so I was OK after all. I was basically there from 12 to around 7:30. The days I’ve been here I’m usually one of the last people to leave. I was only in like 3-4 scenes, but they were filming more than twice that today-and all the scenes scheduled got done.

-It’s kinda funny, I usually bring a book to read but when I’m there I never even touch it. I have no problem waiting on the set. There’s always someone to talk to &/or share jokes with. A lot of jokes actually.I have to wonder how much of that has been captured on the blooper reel. There were times that, even if I wasn’t in the scene, I’d just stay out of camera range & watch the other perform. It’s cool to see the others act & a great learning experience as well. It was great to hang out w/ everyone-a lot of familiar faces and some new ones. I took a lot of pics this time.

-Course, another place to be was near the heaters-it’s getting colder here. I feel bad for the assassins-they’re just wearing shorts & little else. I have layers of clothing on & I’m cold. We had a salamander going at various times in the main room we shot in-coincidentally it was also the room that had the most “ghost orbs” in it-not just today either.

-This day had a lot of dialog going. I had 1 scene which had one line and then another that had 3. Then there was a corridor walk scene-no one tripped this time 🙂 Here’s some memorable moments from this day

-Jason-“QUIET ON THE SET!’……….”THAT MEANS STOP WALKING!” 🙂

-Jason-“Dead person….stay dead….” and then later Jason steps on his hand (!) 🙂

-Me walking into a scene after it was filmed w/ a stuff animal strapped to my stomach (there’s a pic of it-I should’ve waited till the cameras were rolling) 🙂

-Marisa (Shade) saying her lines and starting to say the next person’s line 🙂

-Marisa (Shade) & Steal (Kevin) are talking in a scene. Kevin says his line. Marisa says her line. Dramatic Pause. Kevin whispers to the side “What’s my next line?” 🙂

-Everyone in the scene ragging on me cause at the end of one scene I had to leave and I unintentionally made a head motion like I was flipping my hair like a diva 🙂

-Carlton running the boom mic and it was a scene where Kevin was talking and not only did Carlton not have the mic pointed towards Kevin’s head, but it was actually pointing below his waistline towards his manhood 🙂

-Marisa trying to stay warm during takes by dancing & singing Paula Abdul songs 🙂

-Me & Marlina (bodyguard) getting into a fight with our “knives” and I put mine back in the wrong way-jamming it shut 🙂

-The start of scene where me & Leo (Alex) are to enter & Leo has to bang on the door. He lightly knocks on it and Jason opens the door saying “What kind of knock is that? Bang on the door hard! What are you a princess or something? 🙂

-The last scene was done pretty quickly. After we were all in place, Jason & Carlton would get in position and then Cindy would call out the character who had the next line. Jason & Carlton would quickly shift to be in front of that character and then off to the next. He gets to Leo and he says “I’m trying to remember my line.” 🙂

-Jason told me with all the pics and jokes that I was having too much fun-and he was right. I’d rather be doing stuff like this and/or music than my regular job any day. Looking forward to the next time I’ll be there. Pics from this can be seen on the WWJ PAGE ON FACEBOOK
