9/13/2015-ACTING-Pick Up Shots For ‘Brackish’ Continues

-09/13/2015-Almost one year ago I did some filming for the film ‘Brackish'(MAD ANGEL FILMS)-which is a remake of the original ‘Brackish’ from MAF back in 2007. I play the part of Merlock although, arguably, it could be said that I play three roles in one (You have to see the film to see what I mean). This was a few pick up shots that were either not done up to par or weren’t done at all a year ago. I’m glad I still had my evil cult leader costume from back then, but outside of the hood, I didn’t really need it. Good thing cause last year’s filming kinda caused a mess of it. 🙂 I was just happy I could get into the sheriff’s outfit-I’ve become a little bigger than I was last year… Filming didn’t take too long-although we did get a nice little video clip of me in the midst of an equipment malfunction that will be a nice addition to the blooper reel. Filming went by fairly quickly for me and the others. I might have one more pick up to do here. Pics will soon be posted on my Acting page on Facebook later tonight.

9/2/2015-ACTING-Pics / Recap From Final Week Of Principle Photography On ‘Romeo 3000’

(Pic by Jamie Morgan)

-08/28/2015
-This was a quick shooting day. Basically a pick up shoot for an effect that wasn’t done 2 weeks prior. As you can see from the pics, it’s pretty easy to see what we were filming. It was done rather quickly. Prior to me arriving was filming on some scenes that John & Berndele had to do as well. Afterwards me and Matt went up to Pulaski to catch the premiere of ‘AKA Alice’-pics / recap of that can be seen on that album.

-08/29/2015
-As you may or may not know from the ‘AKA Alice’ premiere recap, me and Matt didn’t get back to Utica till around 2 AM. I still had to drive to Syracuse-I’d left most of costume “c” there due to bad planning (20/20 hindsight ya know). How bad? Well, I got into Syracuse at 3 AM, then had to be up around 5:30 AM to be on the road back to Utica by 7 AM to hit the call at 8 AM-and with filming to go on all day. I was around 30 minutes late-my bad. Everything seems to be moving in slow motion when you’re dead tired… Then we all car pooled to this beach for filming. We had to go down a trail that, we were told, would only take 8 minutes to get to the beach. It was more like at least 20-30… The trail wasn’t as bad as that from Overhead Mountain, but it did bring back some flashbacks. 🙂
This was a smaller cast / crew than previous-John, Jennifer, me, Matt, Mark and Jamie.

-We then proceeded to get all dressed up on the beach. I’m glad it wasn’t humid this day. We went thru the speaking parts and then there were some action shots. Unfortunately, I can’t detail them here-or post pics-until the movie comes out. Spoiler alerts ya know…I think people will be very pleased with the action here as well as later this day. Hopefully we’ll hit all the emotional bulls eyes we are aiming at. In addition, one of the spikes on my arm bracer broke off and is basically forever lost within the sand. We all basically had to get sand out of our hair and clothes thru out the day. As you can see from the pics, I did have a fight scene with John. It came out very well I’m told. I was taught a wrestling move by John which was cool. I taught John that I sometimes go full out and accidentally pulled his hair for real-in addition to causing some damage on his cyborg arm. ( DOH! 🙂 ) John did most of the heavy lifting when it came to falls and stuff since I’m rapidly approaching the date I qualify for my AARP discount 🙂 Seriously, I was frustrated with myself cause I wasn’t in the shape I should’ve been for this. There were several factors involved in this but, bottom line, it was still my responsibility to be combat ready on this day and I wasn’t. However, I was told that the footage was great so…yes, I’m my own worst critic so maybe I’m being too hard on myself, but that’s the way I am-aging and lack of sleep / fitness be damned…

-Then we hiked back to the cars. I should’ve at least changed out of the boots, but didn’t. As a result, I had the skin from a section near my ankle basically rubbed off to a degree. Also had one of the buckles on that boot broken. The life on set huh? 🙂 Still way preferable to the 9 to 5 grind for me… We then went to a pizza / sub place that was awesome (Johnny’s Pizza I believe) and rested / re-hydrated for the next part of the shoot-which was done in Cooperstown.

-After a long drive-and yes, I did konk out during this-we arrived. Jay S. was already there to meet us. Filming was done at this huge graveyard and we basically got filming done before it got too dark. BTW-big thanks to Jay suggesting that we can drive to the spot for filming, basically, instead of us hiking again. 🙂 Once again, no talk or show pics (up to a point) here due to spoilers. This was basically a wrap for Jay, John and Jennifer (Mark was wrapped at the beach). All that’s left was me and Berndele the next day in Utica. By the time I got home this night, it was around 10-11 PM-and call was 8 AM. I think I need to get some PA’s 🙂

-08/30/2015
-At least I got some more sleep before this day. This was the shortest cast / crew yet-just me, Matt and Berndele. As you can see, this was a sword fight and I’m glad it was done on a separate day by itself. Now, admittedly, me and Berndele weren’t even able to get together to rehearse the choreography even once due to scheduling, distance, etc. In addition, with all the filming and other stuff happening in our lives, neither one of us was able to put the time we wanted to into it as was “due proper” 🙂 Having said that, we broke everything down and put safety at the top. I can’t reveal the ending-and there really wasn’t any pics taken (except maybe still shots with what Matt was filming)-but it went off as well as we could. I will say it was a good thing I had the arm bracer on in regards to a blade swing and something that happens to me in many of the films I’m in with Mad Angel Films once again happened here 🙂 Hopefully Berndele’s back has recovered by now -how’s that for being vague? 🙂

-We were basically done before noon. It felt kinda weird-like we had more to do-and we kinda do. Matt now has to go thru all the footage to review it and see what was missed and / or needs to be fixed. I already know of one pick up that I have to do. However, this was still the official “last day of principle photography” for ‘Romeo 3000.’ It seemed like it had just started and here we are at the end.

-I want to give a HUGE thanks to all the people involved in this production-whether we’ve worked together on previous projects or this was the first time. You were all awesome and hopefully we’ll work together in future projects. I know the aim is to get this done and released around summer 2016. I also want to say thanks to all the people who have supported us in anyway. It’s deeply appreciated and I hope that you all enjoy this film as much as we did in making it. Keep an eye out on the Romeo 3000 FB page for news and updates.

8/31/2015-ACTING-Premiere of ‘AKA Alice’ Last Friday Night in Pulaski, NY

(Pic by Steve Losurdo)

-08/28/2015-Last year I was asked to play the role of “Bryce” in a feature film called AKA ALICE by SAGE CAT MEDIA. On this day, the film had its premiere at The KALLET THEATER in Pulaski, NY. I went along with Mad Angel Films head honcho Matt Peters-since we’d just done some filming out in Utica, NY for the feature film ROMEO 3000. There was quite the turnout here. It was cool to catch up with a number of familiar faces from various projects-including this one. I’d never been to the Kallet Theater before so I was pleasantly surprised to see the set up of tables and chairs inside. It was fun looking to see where everyone was within the film. There were a couple of women who cheered when Bryce was taken care of (as to how-well, you have to see the movie to find that out :)) so I take it I did my job here 🙂 Afterwards was more talking as well as signing of DVD covers, scripts and posters. We left and proceeded to get a little lost due to Matt’s GPS wanting to keep taking us towards a bridge that was out 🙂 I had a great time and it’s always awesome to see a film project reach this point. Hope the film does great on the festival circuit as well as wishing for Alissa and Erik abundant sales! Pics can be seen on my acting page on Facebook. DVDs of ‘AKA Alice’ can be bought via links on the STORE page.

Old Parr Scotch Whiskey from ViRTUAL INTERACTiVE on Vimeo.

-Last month I posted on how I was brought in to help film an Old Parr Scotch Whiskey spec commercial for VIRTUAL INTERACTIVE. “Spec” means that it’s not official unless picked up by the company which, unfortunately, it wasn’t. 😦 However, it can now be viewed online so here ya go! 🙂

08/25/2015-ACTING-Pics / Recap From Fifth Week Of Filming With ‘Romeo 3000’ Now Online

(Pic by Jennifer Lefsyk)

-08/22/2015
-This week of filming on ‘Romeo 3000’ introduce the “Mutai”-the outcasts from fair Verona; those banished from society due to imperfections. I was actually set to also play one a Mutai, but-wonderful me-I forgot to bring some of the costume so I jut did crew duty this day. I have to admit that it was interesting to be on the other side of the fence so to speak. We were in Little Falls, NY for this day. The first location for filming wasn’t too far away from where everyone parked. The second was a location that I haven’t been to since the filming of ‘Brackish’-a steep, rocky trek. Then the third shoot was were we shot last weekend. For those who are keeping track, yes-we did find Rosaline’s hat there 🙂 Great job by everyone here this day. Due to time constraints, not everything that was planned to be filmed got done this day. I believe all of that will take place this coming Wednesday. Then we get to the final weekend of filming-a three day stretch. What a way to finish filming huh? 🙂 Pics can now be seen on my acting page on Facebook.

8/19/2015-ACTING-Pics / Recap From Fourth Week Filming With ‘Romeo 3000’ Now Online.

(Pic by Jamie Morgan)

-8/15/2015-This day would be one of the longest for the R3000 cast & crew. It started off in Syracuse at The Landmark Theater-who graciously allowed us to film scenes of the costumed ball here. This was a perfect location for it and we were all honored to be allowed to film here. However, to quote someone who was here, one of the spirits of the Montague must have sabotaged the cooling systems here 🙂 In almost every shot I did here, there was a least one time I was saying a line and I could feel a bead of sweat running down my nose-plus my monocle slipped a few times in mid-line 🙂 We all got thru it pretty well though. It was great to see the turnout of extras as well as the costumes-some of them were better than what we had! 🙂 Everyone was pretty patient as well, not so easy for non actors who may not be familiar with the old “hurry up and wait” mantra in the filming world. The majority of the cast was here as well and, as you can see, a pic was taken of everyone who was there.

-The highlight for me was to actually be in a few quick scenes with my love Le Deb. It’s really cool to have her get a taste of what I , and the other actors and crew, have to go thru to make something like this. It’s not as easy as it looks, nor as glamorous. We also filmed a few additional things for something that will, hopefully, be released around the same time as the actual film. And, while it’s not 100% confirmed, it looks like it might be quite possible that ‘Romeo 3000’ will have a premiere (or at least one of them) right at The Landmark Theater.

-After this, we broke for lunch / dinner before heading out for more filming at a warehouse in Utca, NY. I basically had to change in all three of my costumes today and they were a soaking mass of sweat when all was said and done. We blasted thru the scenes for here, although I know of at least one scene that has to be, in part, re-shot. Then we had to do some shooting outside. I was actually very surprised when Berndele (Mercutio) walked right by two cops while holding his sheathed rapier-and they didn’t bat an eye. Typical night in Utica I guess 🙂 I didn’t get back into Syracuse until around 1:30 AM or so-with call in Utica being at 9 AM and an hour drive.

-8/16/2015-As anyone who knows me can tell you, I was a little late for that call time (Noooooo! 🙂 ). At least the shirt for the costume I had to wear today was washed-otherwise not all the Axe (AKA “Shower in a Can” ) in Utica could save the cast & crew from “da odor amongus” 🙂 We first went to a location that had been previously used for ‘Slade Collins: In & Out of Time.’ No one was allowed inside any longer due to another production (so I heard) so we made due outside. At least it was a little cooler outside. I still take the longest to get into costume-no matter which one it is so….We then went to another location in Little Falls where filming was done for ‘Slade Collins & The Tree of Life.’ Last time I was here was in the dead of winter fighting with Ryan Santiago on a patch of ice. Freezing before, melting now-what memories huh? 🙂 This didn’t take too long though and we got all the stuff needed done before 6 PM. Then came the long trek home.

-This was one of the longest weeks for filming-with another big one coming up this coming weekend. While I admit there were a couple of scenes I’d like to redo cause I didn’t think I hit my mark as well, I’m my worse critic and anyone who I did make mention of this too said I did good so time will tell I guess. Big thanks and kudos for everyone who was involved this past weekend. We’re getting closer to getting done and then comes the long path of post production.

8/11/2015-ACTING-Pics / Recap From Third Week Filming On ‘Romeo 3000’ Now Online

(Pic by Matt Peters)

-08/09/2015-Thus starts the third week of filming with ‘Romeo 3000’. On this Sunday we find our heroes back in the depths of Utica. Today had me, as Tybalt, in confrontation with Father Lawrence (played by James Cacciatore). I have to admit that, out of all the chunks of monologue I have in this film, this one-for some reason-was the one giving me the most trouble (another in an upcoming scene w/ Romeo is close to second) so unfortunately, I wasn’t as consistent as I normal can be. Still got thru it though so all was well 🙂 Not only that, I actually got to wear the combat costume longer that 15 minutes (it takes me at least 30 minutes to put it all on)-Woo To Da Hoo! 🙂

-The first scene was me and Jim, along with his “Sisters of Syn” (until someone comes up with a better tag for them). The roles were played by Mariah Joyce, Sonia Conlin and Nikki R. Baldwin-who was one of our bigger Kickstarter contributors. The scenes involving them and me, along with them and Mercutio (played by Berndele March) took up most of the morning and afternoon, but we got it all done. Part of that was ther only crew Director Matt Peters had this day was 1st AD Ryan Santiago ( and me at times when I wasn’t tripping over my sword-Berne now knows how that feels 🙂 ). Rounding out the cast was Mark J. Peek as Lord Paris, who came to…well, you’ll have to see the film to see what he was doing there don’tcha? 🙂

-Another week in the can and getting closer to completion. This coming week will be a heavy one, with filming both in Syracuse and Utica. For me, about half my dialogue will have to be done this weekend-and it’s a lot. I’m looking forward to the challenge. Pics can be seen on my acting page on Facebook.
